Family Counseling Service offers individual, couple, family and group therapy to people who seek help for a variety of problems, including:
- child behavioral problems
- depression in your family
- domestic violence
- community violence
- grieving the loss of a loved one
- parenting concerns
- step-family living
- caring for an aging parent
- child sexual abuse and trauma
- divorce adjustment
- drug and alcohol abuse
- managing work and family
- family relationship problems
The goal is to improve the psychological, emotional, interpersonal and social well-being of adults and children; resolve problems affecting their personal and family lives; and improve the functioning of the family.
Services are available to parents raising children, families and individuals living or working in the Greater Louisville metropolitan area. Counties served include Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt and Shelby in Kentucky, and Clark, Floyd and Harrison in Indiana. Services include:
- information and referral
- screening
- crisis counseling
- comprehensive assessments
- therapy
- case management
Family Counseling Service served 1,631 families last year with 4,174 individual clients receiving assistance. Approximately 40% of those served were children.
