In addition to the professional and dedicated individuals who serve families here at Family & Children First, there are several other qualities that are characteristic of our services. Among them are these:
- Building on the positive
Rather than approach families by determining only what’s wrong, Family & Children First starts by figuring out what’s right. From there, families can begin to build on what already binds them together and then apply those strengths to the areas in their relationships that require adjusting.
- One primary contact
Each family is unique, and although the complex situations each one faces may require a variety of different services, our clients can feel more secure knowing that the same counselor will be with them every step of the way. One counselor manages each case throughout the course of treatment for better continuity of care. That counselor works to understand their particular situation and develop a family action plan that may involve one or more of our other services.
- Continuous quality improvement
Our organization is committed to providing the most effective, highest quality service possible. To achieve this, Family & Children First established a process that helps align the entire organization to improving services. The process is based on guidelines:
- Outcomes are based on clients’ goals and evaluations of their experience here.
- Improvements are measured. Quarterly report cards document performance.
- Continuous improvement requires appropriate involvement of all staff, clients, community and Board, following a Continuous Quality Improvement process.
- An intentional process uses clear feedback loops, timelines and action plans.
- Small, continuous incremental steps driven from client needs and outcomes provide for long-lasting, meaningful improvement.
- Continuous incremental change, driven by client needs and outcomes, means long-lasting, meaningful improvement. Training is available as indicated.
